The
mission of the Bondi Pavilion Community Cultural Centre
is to create opportunities and provide facilities
for all sections of the community to engage in a range
of art and cultural activities as a means of fostering
community artistic and cultural development.
The
present Bondi Pavilion dates back to 1928 when Waverley
Council responded to the community and visitors needs
by building the Pavilion and promoting it as "The
Playground of the Pacific". Originally the Pavilion
housed Turkish baths, a Ballroom, Palm Court and changing
sheds in the back courtyard (see history of pavilion
for further information).
Bondi
Pavilion Community Cultural Centre comprises a theatre,
gallery, rehearsal, meeting and function rooms, art
workshop, pottery and studios. Bondi Pavilion is the
centre for major festivals and hundreds of performances
throughout the year. In addition there is a wide array
of classes and workshops, with exhibitions changing
every fortnight. The Community Cultural Centre hosts
youth projects, free Senior Citizens concerts each
month and music projects.
